Before your appointment

For a laptop charging or power problem, bring the charger when possible. For a desktop issue, mention any recent hardware changes. If the computer contains important files, say so before any Windows reinstall, formatting, storage replacement or troubleshooting that could affect data. For data recovery, avoid writing new files to the affected drive and do not format a drive simply because Windows asks you to.

You do not need to diagnose the computer yourself. A short description such as “does not turn on,” “very slow after an update,” “screen stays black,” “drive asks to format,” or “Wi‑Fi stopped working” is enough to begin.
